I am a teacher of resilient, fun-loving, fourth graders at a Title One school where one hundred percent of our scholars receive free breakfast and lunch. Though they may come from challenging environments, each day they arrive at school eager to learn and laugh!
It is our mission to ensure students are encouraged and motivated to succeed through both our positive behavior supports and rigorous learning practices.
When these supports and practices are in place, students will have the tools needed to succeed!
My Project
In May, my twenty-four, fourth graders are required to take the state standardized English Language Arts and Math M-Step test on their Chromebooks. In preparation for this, I’d like to provide them with blue, light blocking glasses.
These will help prevent the kiddos’ eyes from being strained while testing, thus avoiding potential headaches, discomfort and visual fatigue.
My class being fully virtual, they will keep the glasses for the rest of the school year to help with screen time fatigue beyond this testing.
I can personally vouch for these because when I started teaching virtually, I had headaches daily. But now, I wear blue light blocking glasses any time I’m on a computer and they’ve been a lifesaver!
