My Project

My students are wonderfully diverse in age, ability level, and background. They are bravely working through a variety of personal challenges, each unique in their own way. I want to give them the best experience I can for the length of their stay with me!

Please help me encourage screen-free fun and focus with a smorgasbord of engaging materials to both ease and engage their minds!

While receiving treatment through the in-patient program, students are without their personal devices for the entire length of their stay. They have restricted access to computers during school hours only, and TV time is very limited. Their daily agenda is full of a broad scope of tasks and engagements, as well as very structured requirements to best aid them in what they are working through. While it may be a difficult adjustment for students to be unglued from their phones, I am excited about highlighting and encouraging the fun and focus that can be practiced during their screen-free period!

I am eager to provide my students with a smorgasbord of nifty materials and supplies that will encourage a healthy sense of pause and focus on one activity for a span of time, which can be a struggle especially while experiencing withdrawal or detox. Aside from building this mindset muscle, these activities can pull double duty by just being fun! Plus, it is said that creative activity can significantly reduce stress and have a positive impact on mental health, not to mention help take the mind off cravings, which then aids in staying focused on the recovery from substance abuse and addiction. Win-Win-Win!

We are grateful for any donation, large or small, in providing these screen-free materials to my students! I thank you in advance for playing a supportive role along their path to recovery!
