This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
This year, I am teaching a third grade ESL and special education class. The group will consist of about 20 English Language Learners, ages 8-9 years old, with diverse backgrounds, and each of them bringing their own diverse needs. Most students come from Spanish speaking homes and are emergent bilinguals. I am grateful to be teaching students in person 5 days a week!
My Project
My third graders will be embarking on a research project in which they will become experts in different countries around the world and write to teach others about those countries.
To engage all learners in a meaningful way, I plan to have students create scrapbooks all about their countries.
This project will incorporate visual arts as students dive into learning about diverse cultures and communities.
This interdisciplinary unit will cover world cultures, informational reading skills, researching, and note-taking skills, and informational writing. Your donation will help provide each student with their own scrapbooking kit to help them create a one-of-a-kind country book!
