My Students
The students of KA are a group like no other. They are comprised of a variety of backgrounds, races and culture. The majority of my students were born and raised in Chicago and possess a love for learning. On a daily basis, they show up to class energized and excited about taking their education to the next level.
My Project
I teach a Speech Elective course. This course gives students an opportunity to learn about the foundation of communication when improving their listening comprehension, writing, spelling and pronunciation skills. Every day, we explore a new vocabulary word. Without vocabulary, nothing can be conveyed. Research has shown that vocabulary helps students express themselves more precisely and sharpens communication skills.
What better way to expand and challenge the skills of using vocabulary than using the game of Scrabble?
This is a fun and useful way to build vocabulary while providing healthy competition within our classroom.
