My Students
Our Kindergarteners come to school each day bright eyed and ready to learn. They are enthusiastic souls although many come with little experience and exposure to school and the basic foundations of literacy and math, therefore already being "behind." As teachers, not only want do we want to instill the love of learning within our students but we also want to set them up for success for their school career. We always say to our students: "The more you practice. . " and they shout: "the better we get!"
At our school many of our students do not speak English as a first language and do not have many resources at home.
Our school is full of students from various places around the world from Turkey to Lithuania to Congo and Iraq. Despite the challenges of being new in a country, these kids are desirous to learn and try their best. Together, we work create a community based on trust, kindness, and fairness in our classroom. We strive to create a space where learning is hands-on, engaging and fun! School is not only a place for academics but also a space to learn to be apart of a community.
My Project
These doubled sides magnetic whiteboards will help keep our kindergarten students engaged in developing foundational skills in reading, spelling, math and writing.
We will use these whiteboards every single day in the classroom.
These whiteboards will help us as teachers constantly assess our students understanding of what is currently being taught in the classroom.
Due to these whiteboards having magnetic capabilities our students will be able to build and create words through a hands on engaging experience which will help solidify their understanding of basic phonological skills.
We know our students will love having these special whiteboards in the classroom!
