My Project
In adapted physical education, we try to expose our students to the same games, sports, and activities that their general education peers have access to. We have been introducing scooters to our students, who are on the autism spectrum, as it is an activity that they can participate in at home. We found some hand-me-down scooters but unfortunately, they are too small and are recommended for ages 3-7. We are looking for donations to purchase larger scooters.
With these new scooters, our students will be able to ride appropriately sized scooters that will allow them to learn an independent life-long activity.
Specifically, we would like to purchase scooters for older elementary aged children, keeping in mind their height and weight. Additionally, we would like foldable scooters so they can be easily stored.
So far, our students love using the scooters, even if they have to bend over to use them. We have seen their excitement for learning something new in the gym. We hope that taller/bigger scooters will create access for all of our students! Thank you in advance for your contributions to our school.
