Scientists In The Making

My Students

How can we think like a scientist? The stanza of this poem sums up the experiences that I want my students to encounter. Thinking Like a Scientist by Jennie Munson Wondering, asking, testing, concluding, This is what scientists do. If you want to think like a scientist Then you must do them too!

My students are fantastic!

They attend an awesome charter school in Missouri. They are very diverse and have a strong love for learning. They readily demonstrate respect, responsibility, and caring. They also ooze creativity. My kiddos are dreamers. My kiddos are winners! My kiddos are the change that we want to see in this world!

My Project

My students need hands-on science materials like engineering kits, tweezers, beakers, test tubes, flashlights, rocks, science journals and more in order to develop a deeper understanding of various science topics, ignite a desire to think like a scientist, and to increase their love of learning. These science supplies will help foster creativity, spark curiosity, encourage collaboration, and promote higher level thinking and questioning with my students. They will learn to take risks, observe, wonder, hypothesize, experiment, test, record data, and conclude. My students will also learn what it means to be a scientist, how hard scientists work to make a positive difference in our world, and how working "smarter together" is always better.

Through the funding of this project, my students will be able to make a true and lasting connection with science and be inspired to investigate science topics.

This project will have a powerful influence in helping my students comprehend how important scientists are and encourage them to think like a scientist in their daily activities. It will also help them to understand the direct impact that they can have on our future.
