This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
Our students must be prepared for the world in which they live; a world that is filled with technology. I am the science teacher to over 350 students. I foster an atmosphere of inquisitive learning. My favorite quote is, "Never settle for less than your best." My students can do anything.
I teach in a Title 1 school.
Our students are comprised of disadvantaged children. They come from low-income families and receive free lunch. They predominantly come from migrant families, (mostly of Hispanic decent), are students with limited English proficiency, live in homeless shelters, are considered at risk students, are neglected, or have special needs.
Our students' families want the best for them. They would like their children to have "the American Dream". That is the ideal that every US citizen should have; the opportunity to achieve success and prosperity through hard work. Our students are highly motivated to learn, they are respectful, cooperative and great citizens.
My Project
My students will greatly benefit from the requested iPad. With the iPad, my students will be able to research topics that we are studying. This will allow for an expansion of knowledge in many fields including science, math, social studies, and community affairs. The iPad will provide access to videos and documentaries which will allow my auditory and visual learners the opportunity to expand their knowledge in the way that best meets their needs.
I would love the opportunity to download various educational apps onto the iPad. These apps will meet the needs of not only my science students, but my children who receive English as a Second Language services and small group instruction. This will allow my students to take control of their learning.
The iPad will motivate my students to achieve more.
They will be excited to know that learning is fun. They will also love the idea that they can take ownership of their learning.
