it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
"Are we having science class today?" this is what I hear from my students every day as I see them around the school before its time for my gifted class. This past school year, I started the gifted program at my school focusing on science with grades two thru five. I was very limited by space, in that I borrowed a classroom from another teacher for an hour a day to meet with my students. They have absolutely loved every moment of the class.
Every time we meet, we are able to dive in deep thru hands-on learning activities to explore the scientific concepts and all their extra questions.
They have truly become inspired learners. This coming year, I'm fortunate enough to have expanded the program to include more students and more time with them. Now, we are in need of additional materials to make the most out of our learning experiences.
My Project
My students are eager learners and love to conduct experiments. However, we are in need of some basic materials so we can conduct exciting labs in our science class. I'm requesting beakers, graduated cylinders, scales, meter sticks and droppers. These items will help my students learn the importance of proper measurements when conducting labs as well as use them to participate in many labs throughout the school year.
In my classroom, we practice the scientific method thru hands-on experiences.
The addition of lab measurement tools will make our experiments a true learning experience for my students. By using these materials, the students will learn how to make accurate measurements as well as properly identify the correct tools to use as little scientists in training.
