Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students come from poverty. Our school is 100% Title I. My students all receive free breakfast, lunch, and snack daily. Our class is our second home. I want it to be inviting and comfortable so that all my students have what they need to be successful.

Each of my students loves learning, however, the method and environment in which they learn can differ.

We incorporate a variety of learning strategies, group work, and alternative seating and learning options to ensure that each student's needs are met, right where they are! They are an incredible group and I am so thankful to have a new group of learners that are excited and ready to learn each year!

My students have big dreams. Many are learning English and helping their families and friends to learn as well. My students are college and career-bound. With your help, we can acquire the tools we need to help my students be successful in science, social studies, and writing.

My Project

This year I was asked to move from second to fifth grade. I am excited but have realized that many supplies I had to teach lower elementary will not be sufficient to teach upper elementary. These history and science materials will help my students understand how America came to be a great country. We will use the maps to understand how the first explorers travel to discover the new land. The timeline will be used as a visual reminder of when important events in history took place. We will learn about the human body and how it works. The model will help my students understand how our body works. It is important that students have examples to refer to when learning new material.
