My Project

What do you remember from 3rd grade?

In a 3rd-grade classroom, build-your-own rocket kits are an exciting way for students to explore principles of force, motion, and measurement.

After assembling their rockets, students can conduct experiments by launching them at various angles or with different levels of air pressure, documenting each trial on graph paper to compare how high or far each rocket travels. Students can record data like launch angle, distance, and height reached, organizing their findings in tables and bar graphs. To share their data and discoveries, students could present their results in small groups, explaining what they learned about how different variables affect the rocket’s flight. Creating a “launch log” on chart paper or a bulletin board allows the class to visualize the range of results and trends, fostering discussion and encouraging students to ask questions and make predictions for future launches. This shared documentation builds a collaborative understanding of basic physics in a fun, hands-on way!
