My Students

I have never read a book that made my laugh so much and think so hard! This book should be institutionalized as a high school science text for it's scope, depth and hilarity! I am so proud that my students will be reading such an eye-opening, engaging, non-fiction book about SCIENCE.

My students come from a wide variety of backgrounds.

We are a comprehensive charter high school with low socio-economic averages and high success. When reading this book, most students are at first overwhelmed, then fascinated. Reading this book is an achievement of which they are so proud.

My Project

During the first twenty minutes of class you can hear a pin drop in my classroom. You may surprised to see me drinking coffee with my feet up reading a fabulous book. But the most surprising is to look around the room and see the students equally enjoying the same book! With a class set of these books that I will check out to each student, they can be a part of this experience without having the burden of purchasing the book themselves.

After my first semester having my classes read this book, I decided to have my students write the author with their comments and praise for the book.

I thought this might be simply a way to wrap up the year, but after reading how much my students learned and enjoyed this book I decided to send the letters to the author in England! Your donation of these books will ensure that my students can continue to be amazed by a new way to appreciate science.
