My Students
As students advance into higher levels of math, it is crucial that they have the appropriate resources to help them master the most challenging problems.
New Jersey produces incredible students who strive to excel in math, especially at our school : ) Our students are public school students attending a public charter school.
They predominantly come from low-income households. Our students are eager to use new technologies in math class.
My Project
With a class set of scientific calculators, our students in multiple grade levels will be able to tackle significantly more complex math problems that require the functions of a calculator. Our students additionally will learn how to navigate a scientific calculator, which many of them have never used and most have never had any formal training with on. As they get closer to Algebra and high school mathematics, it is crucial that they are able to use a scientific calculator to be successful currently as well as to set them up for using a graphing calculator in future years.
With these calculators, our students will have more access to mathematical knowledge and skills that they otherwise would not have had.
Students will develop a new skill set that will prepare them for future mathematical endeavors.
