Science vs. Disney Magic!

My students need interactive science materials, kits, and activities that can be used over and over again to support learning while encouraging recycling efforts.

My Students

We as teachers are constantly competing with the amazing animation Disney provides our youth. Interactive whiteboards are amazing inventions that bring life sized interactive learning into our classrooms. I can only imagine the learning that my class will accomplish with the requested materials.

I teach 32 eager 5th grade students at a Title I school where over fifty percent of the students receive free or reduced lunch.

I teach a very diverse group ranging in ability levels. My students include English Language learners, students who receive resources for learning disabilities , as well as some students who are gifted. The need for differentiated instruction is very high in my classroom.

My Project

With the requested science materials the whole class can explore science concepts such as the human body, rocks and minerals, plant life cycles, and more. Each interactive science activity includes skill-building activities designed for my interactive whiteboard! Each of the CD-ROMs targets a different concept with a full-color interactive chart and they are loaded with extras like moving graphics, optional narration, and fun-filled games... so even reluctant learners (who prefer watching the Disney Channel) will stay engaged! There is even a quiz mode for reinforcing what children have learned so I can monitor student learning. After the students learn interactively, they can visit the science center to do more hands on activities such as puzzles and use the magnifiers to get up close and personal with the subject. The centers also include an experiment that takes students through the entire scientific process.

The best part about adding these materials to my classroom is I can reinforce being environmentally conscious, because everything can be done without using paper!

The materials can be used over and over again in the future as well. With your help, my students will be engaged in hands on interactive learning before the year ends!
