My Project
I serve a population of students, a majority of them who have never been outside of their hometown of 400 people. This makes them very unique in the sense they know a lot about the area I get to teach in. My school district throws a science fair every year, encouraging projects that are centered around the place in which we live. The winners of the science fair get the opportunity to leave our village and go to the state science fair in Anchorage. Students elementary aged all the way to high school aged students participate.
To allow students to have opportunities to study lots of different areas requires the equipment to do so.
We do not have a large enough budget every year to buy new equipment for our classrooms that gets used up or broken. The majority of our budget goes towards basic supplies such as pencils, paper, and other supplies needed to complete the science fair.
For this project, I would like to replace some of the things throughout our school that have broken over the years or have been used up and not replaced. I plan to use all of these in my classroom, to lend out to other teachers, and to just have in the school in general. If this project is fully funded, it will support over 130 students living in a rural area.
