My students need to step outside of their area and start experiencing the latest technology in the science lab. 3D glasses will enable my scholars to view science in a whole and fun new way.

Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
I teach about 345 scholars in a one week period with scholars ranging from first grade all the way through fifth grade. Most of the scholars in my school have a lack of background knowledge as many of them don’t travel outside of the central area of the city. Some of the students I teach are not even able to communicate in English properly.
Despite the difficulties these lower-income students face, they always walk into my science lab ready to learn.
In this Title-1 school, located in central El Paso, my scholars have a great thirst for accomplishing great things. I use a variety of technology in my science lab. From iPads and QR codes, to microscopes with television screens mounted on them, to some of the low-tech STEM activities where they learn about simple robotics and coding. Scholars in my science lab get a variety of incredible knowledge.
My Project
I have been experimenting with educational 3D videos for my scholars for over a year. I currently have 4 pairs of 3D glasses and have a 3D Blu-ray player which I purchased myself at a high cost.
I believe that this experience would create an excitement for science that my scholars have never had before.
The 3D glasses that I am requesting are specifically created for the projector that I have in my science lab. The glasses use what is called "DLP Link" technology. They use beams of light from the projector to create a 3D image while using the glasses. This technology is much more affordable than using the typical 3D experience as I would not be forced to purchase a special screen or TV in addition with the 3D glasses. I know this technology is affordable in comparison with the traditional 3D screens.
I am attempting to be the first in my school district to add 3D videos as a part of my science lab experience where students would be able to view 3D videos that will let experience science in a new engaging and fun way. The students at C Elementary will truly benefit by becoming a part and immersing themselves into the action of science.
