Science Sparks Our Creativity! (Part II)

My Students

My science lab is always buzzing with the sounds of young scientists at work. They are engaged in many activities and projects, but sometimes their creativity is limited by the supplies I have available for them to work with.

I work with over 500 enthusiastic students in kindergarten through eighth grade each week in my science lab.

They are excited as they learn about and explore the world around them. They are curious and full of questions each week. Their eager attitudes for scientific knowledge keeps me inspired as I strive to provide meaningful learning experiences for them.

My Project

As my students engage in science, they work to create visual representations of their knowledge. This might come in the form of creating a book, poster, model or display about their topic of study. When students are able to express their knowledge in authentic ways, there is greater retention than if they were merely memorizing facts. Also, students are able to add their own personal, creative touches to their projects.

Having crayons, markers, colored pencils and glue sticks will allow my students' creativity to flourish as they create representations of the knowledge they gain through scientific explorations.
