My Students

Improving the connection between home and school is a documented factor in increasing student achievement. A digital camera will help my students capture their science experiments and place them in PowerPoint presentations that they can share with their parents.

Although my 4th grade class is from a rural, poverty-stricken area, they are smart, dedicated, and capable students.

They enjoy technology and anything else that is hands-on. Many of them to do not have access to technology at home, so they are extra appreciative of technology in the classroom. Because access to technology is limited for my students, it has an extra "WOW" factor which causes my students to want to share their lessons with their parents. I know my students will be proud of themselves when they are able to show their parents a completed PowerPoint presentation. They'll also be eager to share how they conducted their experiment and their conclusion.

My Project

Good teachers know that students learn more when they are happy and engaged! A digital camera with needed accessories will provide my students with an enjoyable, captivating way to document their science experiments. As they perform experiments, they will digitally document their work with photography. Next, they will arrange their photos in a PowerPoint presentation, which they can email to their parents. Not only will my students learn science, they will be exposed to technology and the home-school connection will be strengthened. All of these things are critical for long-term student success.

My students will be more successful in my class and as adults because of your support.

I am excited about doing this project in my classroom and I'll tell my students the good news as soon as my project is funded. Thank you for being willing to make a difference!
