My Students

My students are mixed ability and amazing. They come from varying backgrounds but come together as a lively bunch of curious learners. I have 12 boys and 10 girls. Nine students are below grade level in Reading, and ten students are below grade level in Math. I have three students performing at Level Five (the top level) - who will need engaging activities to continue to grow. My other nine students also have their distinct needs. I have students with autism, learning disabilities, and attention deficit disorder.

They are my Blue Suede Paws and are our fantastic future.

They are going to need my support with critical thinking skills, problem solving, and perseverance. I need tools that will enable my students to collaborate and learn via engaging projects that ensure that every child feels, and is, successful and prepared for the future.

My Project

My students need good nonfiction reading material. Scholastics magazines provide this. My students take their first major science assessment this year. This material will boost their knowledge and engage them far beyond their text books. When my students read about science this way, they do not even realize that they are learning the State standards

They just think they are learning fascinating facts that they cannot wait to share.

That is a win-win for all.

The articles are up-to-date, fascinating, and age appropriate. I can combine the provided lesson plan ideas with my hands-on inquiry activities and at home reading. I can tie in reading, writing, and mathematics with the content provided. What a combination!
