My Project

Our students love hands-on science experimentation and exploration, but not all of them love reading. Let's harness their love of making, building, and playing and create a Library MakerSpace that celebrates BIPOC super stars in the science field!

At my school in Harlem, we are working hard to ensure that every child has the opportunity to see themselves reflected in books about science, technology engineering and math.

Currently we are lacking culturally representational books and even basic technology like printers in the library. I am looking to acquire a printer so the students can write their own stories, and can create a class magazine about their science experiments. We also have a selection of books that will be prominently displayed in our MakerSpace that highlight the achievements of BIPOC scientists and creators.
