My students need magazines to keep them current with the world of science, to help improve their reading skills, and to expand their research skills. Requested are subscriptions for magazines from National Geographic Extreme Explorer for Kids to Zoobooks and Popular Science.
FULLY FUNDED! Ms. Felder's classroom raised $639
This project is fully funded
In today's rapidly changing world of science, keeping up with advances is an important part of a child's education. I teach science in my district's junior high. We are a small, rural school district in southwest Mississippi.
Like far too many students, I find the majority of my kids are deficient in their reading skills. In order to improve, they have to practice reading. Finding reading material that grabs their attention and holds it can be quite challenging on the low budget that my rural district has for such things as magazine subscriptions. This is why I turn to you, Dear Donor, for assistance.
I am seeking magazine subscriptions for my classroom so that I can build a reading and reference library for my students. No only will this help improve their understanding of science in general, it will keep them abreast of the ever-changing scope of science and improve their over-all reading skills and comprehension abilities. This is a win-win situation for us all!
Multiple copies of the same magazine will allow my students to share the magazines, work together in small groups to research topics and discuss advances in science. This will foster cooperation as a social skills, enhance their understanding of science, and augment their reading skills. Thank you for any consideration you can give to my proposal.
