My Students
As a resource teacher, I interact with various behaviors and educational levels. My students struggle with learning so it is my job to make it obtainable for their needs.
Some of our students are from low income urban areas and some of them have difficult home lives.
Other students parents work, but struggle to make ends meet. Most of our students have good attendance and come to school ready to learn. We use language at school like, "How can we make your brain grow?" This gives students something to work toward in the classroom and helps think critically.
My Project
There are several activities I can utilize with these resources. For instance, my students in the 5th grade will create a visual diagram to show their understanding of the moon phases. The moon phases is part of the common core standard. In this activity they will learn what happens with the moon in these phases.
When my fifth graders leave to go to middles school next year they will have gained knowledge on the moon and its phases.
This will improve my classroom this year and grow them with their peers next school year. Understanding science is important for students in the classroom because it allows them to be creative and learn.
This project will directly impact historically underfunded classrooms.
Nearly all students from low‑income households
