Science Plus Literacy Equals Success

My students need 4 copies of a wonderful book called Science: A Closer Look.

FULLY FUNDED! Mrs. Goetz's classroom raised $559

My Students

We live in a world full of wonder. Learning about our world is fascinating for my students. When I couple science with reading, my students learn critical thinking skills as they are being inspired to think about the world they live in.

My students are a wonderful group of young people who come from many different cultures and backgrounds.

They are curious about how things work and want to learn more about science. We have over 50% of our student in the free/reduced lunch program, but what we lack in means we make up for in hard work and determination to learn.

My Project

The book that I am requesting is truly a quality resource for teaching science and reading skills. These four copies will allow me to read with a small guided reading group to support literacy skills. There are also many hands-on labs that help introduce or reinforce science concepts. Doing the labs gives even reluctant readers an authentic reason to read carefully as they do the lab activities and experiments.

Integrating subjects is essential in order to teach our children and develop world-class skills in all students.

The Science: A Closer Look books will inspire my students to be better readers, thinkers, and scientists. I hope you will consider supporting this project not only for my students this year, but for years to come.
