Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My 4th grade students are sweet and appreciative kids that are grateful for the things they have. They come from a low socioeconomic area in Los Angeles. Every student gets free breakfast and lunch. The majority of the students are English learners that come from Spanish speaking parents that have immigrated to Los Angeles. There are 32 students enrolled in class which makes it difficult to teach whole group and maneuver around the class. Although it's a bit crowded, we make it work!
My Project
My students need a laptop and a carrying case to research and capture their learning on Environmental Science. My students are constantly learning about science on the playground, community walks, and indoors. After students have gathered their research on Environmental Science, learned about Sustainable Energy they will connect it to our unit of study: Energy Sources.
Students will be able to use the laptop to create power point presentations.
Students will also generate Energy questions to other groups by using a website called Kahoot! Students will be motivated to demonstrate their learning on Environmental Science and Energy Sources because they will have a laptop for power point presentations.
Nearly all students from low‑income households
Data about students' economic need comes from the National Center for Education Statistics, via our partners at MDR Education. Learn more
