This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My 8th-grade science students are part of a high-level learning environment. There are new areas to discover. The classroom is a hive of activity using a blended classroom environment of technology, hands-on and group based instruction. The students are curious and ready to go, they are fast learners wanting to discover as much as they can about the world around them. The students are a blended mix of students from all over the school district; they come with a wealth of varied experiences and cultures.

My Project

My students are using technology outside of school; recording videos, using SnapChat, watching YouTube, etc., but the application of technology hasn't reached this exciting level yet in the classroom. My aim is to get students to experience the power of technology for learning in the classroom. We can do the same things they are seeing/experiencing outside of school here at school. Students will be energized and motivated to produce and contribute to high quality 360 recordings, record narrated experiences of various activities and show how they can contribute to the learning in and outside the classroom. Students will record events as they explain the motion of the moon and the planets in the sky, they will record and edit videos on Newton's laws of motion, they will record chemical reactions as they take place and describe the reactions as they occur. Students will be the teacher and I will act as the facilitator as we explore various science concepts in the classroom.
