My students need these 30 calculators and a double pocket chart stand with storage to complete labs, assignments, genetics problems, and to stay organized

My Students
I teach students who vary from the gifted and advanced to those with learning, mental, emotional, and physical disabilities.
Students in this area are from families that are undergoing tremendous lifestyle changes due to the declining economic stability of the region.
With the loss of jobs and homes, many families are struggling just to provide basic human needs and students at all levels are feeling the impact of these stresses both in and out of the educational environment.
My Project
“What percentage”, “how much”, “calculate the average”…these are just a few examples of how math and science go hand in hand! Students start to understand this within the first days of school when they are asked to calculate volume, mass, surface area, and density of objects. Throughout the year, students must use the calculators to do many, many calculations such as; converting between the English and Metric systems, manipulating fractions for radiometric dating, calculating probability for genetics, determining population density, calculating angles of reflection, and manipulating data in numerous labs. With the organized work station and supply of calculators, students will be able to reinforcing math skills within the science room and shoot for the stars in both subjects.
Knowledge truly is power.
Giving students the opportunity to understand the scientific concepts taught through the use of these items will not only further their basic understanding of science, it can help to reinforce concepts taught in math. Intertwining student knowledge through the use of multiple subject activities provides students with a deeper understanding of each subject area ultimately giving the “whole picture” view of education that all educators hope to paint for their students.
Nearly all students from low‑income households
