My Students

Have you ever tried to do something without the proper materials? Our science class has no weight! Actually, we have no way to measure weight/mass in our science classroom. We need your help to give us the ability to have the proper materials.

Our students here in Idaho are in the 8th grade and are excited about science.

They love to learn using hands-on investigations. These students are great people with great attitudes who see value in education. These 8th graders are in middle school and are preparing to move up to high school next year with even greater expectations.

My Project

With the donation of digital scales, these students will be able to work on science investigations and accurately measure mass of items and be able to completely finish and investigation on their own with materials used in the classroom. At this time, we have no materials to do this accurately. Our materials were hand-me-downs from the old high school with masking tape on them that is older than my students that used to "fix" them. We have high expectations for our science students to become successful in their understanding of their subject content, but without proper materials that work, we are unable to do this. With these digital scales, the students will be able to perform science investigations that I've had to previously leave out of my teaching. In our Earth Science class, we study a lot about density, and thus, the students need many opportunities to see how density is calculated. With these numerous opportunities, students will understand the concept of density!

With proper supplies, these students will have every opportunity to become successful in the area of science and possibly develop a life-long love of science. You can make an impact on a young potential scientist.
