Science Lab Supplies

My students need chemicals such as acid, bases and organics; and lab supplies such as eye droppers, pH paper and wood splints for my physical science and earth science classes.

My classroom is set in a semi-rural town in North Carolina. I teach environmental science, physical science and biology. The students in my class are a very diverse group, racially, socio-economically, and educationally. My goal in the classroom is to make science fun and nurture my students' curiosity of their surroundings through scientific exploration, and to prepare them for college.

Our school is running out of chemicals and lab supplies. During the past year, I had to cut back on the number of labs that my students did in order to conserve chemicals. My students love hands-on learning and doing labs. Science labs are crucial to helping students connect with the material as well as preparing them for future college courses.

I have inventoried our chemicals and with this grant, we will be able to continue the labs that have been successful. The chemicals that this grant will provide will give students an opportunity to do labs that are not only educational, but also fun. I believe that science needs to be hands on, but we are running out of materials. Doing labs give students the experience of doing an experiment, then writing up a lab report which is an invaluable skill to have when taking college science classes in the future.

Your donation will ensure my future students have the opportunity to do some really exciting labs, which will help them connect with the material as well as have fun in the classroom.
