My Students
My students really love science. They have just begun a new school year and are excited to learn all kinds of new things in the middle school science program. We were able to get a few items last year through generous donations to this organization!
The scholars at my school come from underprivileged homes in an urban city in Ohio.
The students range from 5th grade to 8th grade and attend a community charter school. We have very little resources to use for teaching our students whose academic skills and knowledge are far below grade level when we receive them.
My Project
I am asking for tools such as microscope slides, beakers, petri dishes, and other items you might normally find in a science class. They can't wait to see what new concepts we learn this year. They have already brought in items to study and really look forward to studying in-depth. Many of them have struggled in the past and last year were given an opportunity in my class to excel and begin to realize they can learn science-that it's not that difficult.
I would really like to get these laboratory tools to help the children learn using hands on experiences.
This is how they learn best. It will help them better visualize scientific concepts and be able to apply them in their lives.
