Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
Our students are very curious. Our science lab is a wonderful and safe place to investigate their curiosity. Our lab is in need of some basic science equipment. In order for our students to think scientifically we want them to be surrounded with the proper scientific tools and equipment.
Our students are thriving for different ways to investigate their surroundings.
We are asking for a class set of dissection tools so all of our students can be actively engaged in their science investigations. We have over 800 students, who come from low-income homes, at our school that will be using all or portions of the dissection kits. The science table will help them encompass the feel of a real science lab.
My Project
At this time we are requesting dissection kits and a science table on behalf of the students. We want to ignite and encourage their scientific curiosity. The dissection kits can be used in dissecting seeds, plants, fruit, vegetables to small living organisms. These tools will help the student observe and investigate the small things in their lives. They will begin to notice details, patterns, and how an object or organism is created in parts. They will observe how these parts have a function and purpose. The students will then document their scientific discoveries in their science journals, hopefully, on top of their science tables.
Tools are important in all subjects that we teach.
These dissection kits will allow the student to get a deeper understanding of the small things in their world. Help us to ignite and keep the flames of their curiosity going. You may just have the opportunity to spark the mind of some future doctor, nurse, biologist, and scientist.
This project will directly impact historically underfunded classrooms.
