My Students
Students are gifted and talented; always eager to try something new. They come from various boroughs of New York City to attend class in East Harlem. Their various races and backgrounds give the school a vibrant feel of culture. Students are critical thinkers and require different learning styles to accommodate their needs. Within the school day, students are analyzing images, text and completing hands-on task to develop their understanding. Students are asking questions and engaged in peer discussions to deepen their understanding.
My Project
Technology is advancing every day and since my students love to complete hand-on activities I want to expose them to science labs they can do online that will promote understanding and application of science in a new light. Having a set of laptops for the classroom will give my students choice and help differentiate their needs for different activities. Also, students can really dive in to current scientific research right in the classroom. As a class, they can learn about reliable resources that can promote a deeper understanding of science that is changing the world around us and how we think.
