Science: Keeping the Wonder

My Project

Our science class is a place of wonder--figuring out phenomena that are relevant to middle schoolers' lives as we continually engage in the figuring-out process!

Each and every day we work towards understanding the world around us, working in teams and sharing ideas.

Chart paper, sticky notes, and sharpies help launch a unit as we build consensus models and a driving question board. Dry erase markers are used frequently by students as they work to share their thinking on both vertical and horizontal work spaces, giving students an easily editable and productive way to model scientific thinking, organize their thought processes, and tap into others' thinking!

Our classroom is also a very visual space to support students with differences and provide context to related phenomena. As a result, sheet protectors allow us to slip in colorful printed images, all while protecting their use across class periods. Additionally, students can draw over them with dry erase markers, making their thinking visible. Binder clips help keep card sets sorted and organized.
