Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
I teach special education in a needy community. Most of my students do not have the home support necessary to come to school with (what used to be considered) normal school supplies. Being in a special education classroom guarantees these children a "free education". Sadly, due to the school budget, six teachers must split $200 for the full school year.
My students are aware that they do not come to school with the supplies needed to be truly successful.
Providing them with notebooks, glue, and pencils places them on a more equal footing with their peers to create material that has a polished look of which they can be proud.
Interactive science journals help teach research, recording, and review skills that will help these students throughout their lives.
