This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
I am a teacher in a low economic area of our school district. I teach Science and love to give my students hands on experiences, but it can be costly. In order to achieve this and have a very positive impact on my students, they are in need of materials. Most of these students come from single parent, one income homes.
After working in this area for over 10 years, I see that many of these children are driven and have aspirations, they just do not always have the proper guidance.
I would love to give them experiences that do not come with their everyday living, by having necessary materials in my classroom to give them positive experiences.
My Project
These kits align with our curriculum and will help with enhancing my students learning experiences. They will be used in various activities to give them hands-on experience and real life learning. The Matter kit will help with their understanding of solids, liquids, and gases. The Light kit will help them see what refraction is with lens. And the Force and Motion kit will help them better understand how friction works against objects.
Science is hard to understand without the concrete learning that happens with hands-on activities.
It is vital for them to see how things work in Science with examples of the topics we are learning. By donating to our project my students will learn and thrive in Science and will greatly improve their understanding and competency in scientific methods.
