Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
Have you ever seen children's faces light up when they learn something new? I hope to see my students' faces light up with knowledge of electricity this year.
My fourth graders are enthusiastic, project-based learners.
They come from different backgrounds and different cities in our area to attend our school. They learn by building, exploring, and creating. Hands-on projects keep them engaged and help them to understand the concepts they are learning.
Many of my students have learning disabilities and/or academic deficits. They struggle to connect with concepts as presented in textbooks, and need exposure to content related informational text.
My Project
It is so important that students interact with science concepts in meaningful and engaging ways. That is why I am requesting the electricity activity kits and grade-level appropriate texts. My students will use the classroom-safe kits to explore electricity concepts by testing conductors, creating circuits, sending Morse code messages, and even building an alarm. They will use the texts to do close reading about science content.
By donating to this project, you will provide sorely needed informational text and hands-on materials for my students to use as they explore the concept of electricity in their science class.
