This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My preschool students are children who are three to five years of age. My school is in sunny California where children come to school each morning ready to learn and grow! There's never a dull moment in our class. My students are busy bees moving from one interest area to another. They're eager to learn, explore, engage and experiment with the instructional materials and centers I set up for them. My students need instructional materials to engage with to foster their interest in technology, literacy, math, science, art and engineering. They also, need instructional materials to support their social and emotional learning, to help them grow into well rounded individuals. Every single one of my students deserves a fair chance at having his or her potential nurtured and fully developed. My little ones have an insatiable curiosity, that's why it's important for me to have a class with a variety of instructional materials to meet their educational needs.

My Project

My students need a camera and film to take pictures of the many investigation learning opportunities and activities they participate in at school. Opportunities to investigate physical, life and earth science are part of our daily schedule. My students will use the camera to take pictures of the many insects and bugs they find, bugs such as caterpillars, spiders, grasshoppers and ladybugs are found by my students on a daily basis during outdoor interest area explorations. They will also, have the opportunity to take pictures of squirrels, birds, dogs and cats. Furthermore, they will also have the opportunity to take pictures of flowering plants and the amazing process of planting a seed and watching the different stages of growth! They will also, have the opportunity to take pictures of seasonal changes in plants and trees. The camera will help my students document changes that occur in our environment supporting my students understanding of life cycles, habitats,weather and living things. The pictures they print will serve as evidence of all the investigative activities they participate in and support their retention of the investigative process.
