This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
In my classroom science is an exciting and engaging learning experience. Hands-on science materials will help my students further understand various scientific concepts.
My students are an amazing group of first graders.
They are extremely bright, highly energetic, and eager to learn especially when it comes to science. Our school is fairly small and located in a small community near central Phoenix. We are a Title One school.
My Project
The resources requested will be used to teach science in the classroom. They are wonderful teaching materials because they are hands-on materials. The materials include realistic animal specimen, magnifier glasses, scissors, and plastic coins. Students will be exploring the specimen with magnifier glasses to learn about various animals and their habitats. The plastic coins and scissors requested will be used for an economics unit in which students will explore money, needs versus wants, consumers and producers. At the end of our economics unit students will create an item to advertise and sell to other participating classrooms.
Students learning experiences will be greatly improved by the use of these realistic hands-on materials because they will be able to explore, study, and identify various animals and become familiar with economics.
