This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I have the privilege of working at such a diverse school. My students come from a variety of cultural backgrounds. We are a school located in the South Bronx with many challenges. Despite the community, our students are eager to explore and learn.

Our school is also considered a transitional school due to all the surrounding shelters.

I love working with this community. My students are faced with lots of challenges, but somehow they make it to school each day with a huge smile. Seeing them being so resilient makes me want to work harder to provide them with all I can. My students are resilient, curious, and creative. They love to read, create art, and use their imagination daily. Our classroom is a big ball of fun, where they come to create, explore, and invent through new experiences.

As their teacher, it is my job to support them in all walks of life. When I enter the classroom I become their friend, nurse counselor, mom, and so many other things depending on their arrival. I take pride in providing myself to my little ones and their families.

My Project

I hope when you read this, you are doing well. I am asking for help again. I wanted to build my science and math center. I could just picture their little faces when we begin the unit on plants and we plant seeds and they get to witness how it grows. How about when they get the opportunity to play in the science center and they take out the microscope and the animal specimens this will open new doors to learning. With my children, I want to give as much opportunities to learn about letters and meaning behind each one. When they discover how to use phonics the look of amazement makes the world great again. I want to give my children the opportunity to enjoy learning.
