This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Students across our campus have access to only the most basic science classes. They want to be doctors, researchers, and chemists, but can't get the classes just yet.

I am an English teacher trying to bridge the scientific gap for my curious, scientific students.

Since they don't get many chances to take advanced science classes, I try to engage my students in as many diverse, scientific texts as possible. I know I can still do my part to support our kids.

My Project

The Immortal Life of Henrietta Lacks is the narrative of the famous HELA cell and the process of developing scientific innovation. It also discusses scientific ethics, which often falls somewhere between a basic English class and a basic science class. Instead of waiting on the school or district structure to catch up with the world, I want to give my students a head start into their future as scientists and citizens.

Why wait?

We need more and better scientists now. With your help, more students can have access to a scientific text that can be used and reused for years to come. We will share this set and make sure all student leaders have access to the future, today.
