Science in Action

My Project

Last year was my first year teaching 7th grade science and I worked so hard to plan lessons that gave all my students hands-on experiences. With the impacts of COVID, I worked to bridge the gap of the science learning loss that had occurred in creative ways to keep my students actively engaged. This summer, when teaching summer school I worked with kids from other schools and they asked me if I always taught this way. Yes! I want deep learning, but, I can teach, talk, have them write notes all I want. Until they can apply it, that is when they can make those real life connections, answer questions they may have, or better yet ask new questions.

My favorite part of teaching is reading an email from a parent that their student loves science and now wants to be a scientist.

These materials (microscope slides, trays, markers, etc.) will allow me to continue to bring hands-on learning and refill what we run out of the most.
