Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

The students at my school are wonderful. When you visit the school I teach at, you will notice students making eye contact and greeting you with a smile. They are kind, curious, and collaborative. They love hands-on activities and projects and always, always apply themselves to their learning.

My Project

All the materials needed in this Donors Choose project are designed to conduct NGSS based 4th-grade science experiments. These materials will make a difference in my students' learning as they will build knowledge 'by doing', talking with each other, and working in teams.

Students thrive on hands-on science experiments.

The majority of my students are emergent bilingual learners. When given the opportunity to explore hands-on and learn by talking with their peers, discuss new concepts in teams, and apply new vocabulary, my students feel empowered and confident in their learning.

Applied science is not only a great means to build grade-level content knowledge but also a great preparation for the English Language Proficiency Assessment for California (ELPAC) which many of my students need to take in the spring.
