This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

My students love science, especially if they explore through hands-on activities. I am requesting Bucket Balance Scales for Liquids and Solids, Acrylic Window Bird Feeders, 10X Magnifying Glasses, LED Flashlights, Junior Science Magnet Set and more. All of these materials connect to our Georgia science standards for 1st grade. This will be my first year teaching the 1st grade science curriculum after many years in other grades so I need supplies my school does not provide to help these curriculum units come alive for my students.

We'll be learning about weather, light and sound, magnets, and plants.

The thermometer, wind vane and rain gauge will allow students to use these instruments to make observations and collect data in order to identify patterns. Students can use the magnet sets to plan and carry out investigations to demonstrate how magnets attract and repel each other. The flashlights will help us explore shadows by placing objects at various points from the

source of light. We'll use the pots to plant our own seeds and see how they grow.
