This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
Bring the mysteries of atomic forces to life through magnets. My students will discover the positive and negative charges of subatomic particles through magnets.
My students are strategic learners who need hands on manipulative's to help them better understand the forces of subatomic particles.
My students learn need lessons and activities that are based on visual and hands on inquiry versus textbook and lecture lessons. Our school believes all students deserve the same opportunities for science no matter their skill level.
My Project
I have a class of strategic learners who need access to more hands on manipulative's and less textbook and lecture notes. My students approach science with an open mind but need to spend more time explore basic concepts that lead them into higher learning situations. My strategic learners perform better on assessments when they have an opportunity to manipulate objects and items. The materials requested will help them see the invisible forces working within the atom. Understanding how positive and negative charges work is a difficult idea, but seeing the magnets moving toward each other and being pushed away will help them see how electrons, protons and neutrons behave. These items will also serve as a supplemental lesson for my general education students. Students will also be able to explore strong and weak forces, and gravitational forces.
Your support will help my students understand a difficult concept of the forces of attraction and repulsion.
Invisible forces and concepts are difficult to master, however magnets can bring these to life. Strategic learners often have a more challenging time with science concepts. Your donation will help my learners see the unseen, to observe how objects can be pulled toward each other and pushed away. Your donation will open the door to a greater understanding of science.
