Science for Sixth Graders

Help me give my students tools necessary to learn and develop their science skills.

My Project

At our school students have great potential to exceed the high expectations that have been placed on them. Sixth graders have a lot of science curriculum to cover throughout the year.

As we all know having a hands-on experience helps students not only learn better, but they also retain the information and can apply it.

Students will need to develop models of atoms, predict the effect of heat energy on states of matter and density, plan and carry out and investigation to determine the relationship between temperature and heat transfer, and design an object that will keep ice cream cold. We also study ecosystems and the effects of resource availability on organisms and populations, the life cycle of a brine shrimp and the predictions of patterns and food webs and describe the cycling of matter and flow of energy.

One tool that I would like to use it the density box because it brings a clever mesmerizing demonstration of density. The brine shrimp teach the students about the life cycle of an animal. Graduated cylinders and thermometers are used for measuring. These tasks are used in everyday life and here and we don't have the tools to teach science in the manner it should be taught. The hot plates will be used to heat up a variety of things to measure how heat effects energy. The thermometers will be used to measure how cool their structure they build stays. It will be built using foil, foam, felt, steel wool, packing material, and cotton balls.

The gummies and toothpicks will be used to make molec
