This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

Every year that I have taught, I have hosted a science fair for our students. Over the years it has really taken off with my students moving forward through the regional, city-wide and even state-level science fairs! I have taught my students how to apply the scientific method and NGSS science and engineering practices. Soon it'll be their turn to choose a topic of personal interest and explore it to the fullest. My students enjoy this time of the year as they get to spend their time studying something that personally interests them. I will support them in class every step of the way and at the end, they will present their projects to their peers and then school-wide to the younger grades and then again to the families during our schools science night. Our top projects will move forward to Chicago regionals. Those students will have the opportunity to continue moving forward and receive college scholarships once in their senior year of high school!
