Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I am an inner city second grade teacher in Illinois. I am privileged to work with my students; however some come from low economic status households, but all of my students enjoy learning.
When going over science concepts, I found my students have difficulty understanding the material and vocabulary. Also, I found my students learn in different ways, but all of the students learn by actively engaging with hands-on strategies.
The Science Activity Tubs would be helpful for the students because they will serve as an excellent way to give students a hands-on experience with science. The tubs experiment with different science concepts by allowing hands-on experiments and self-discovery. The science activity tubs will allow students to create their own constellations, go on a rock scavenger hunt, build a model of a molecule, keep a weather journal, test the pull of gravity and make many other science discoveries. Also, the tubs will help in not only reinforcing science skills, but also skills in reading, math and writing.
To ensure I can provide all of my students an effective and engaging education, I need assistance with resources. I am requesting for my students the complete set of Learning Science Activity Tubs. The activity tubs will allow the students to have a new love for science because they can experiment more with it and understand concepts better. These materials will open their eyes to the idea that science can be fun and can be applied to the real world.
By helping students have a greater joy for science, you are helping our future have a desire to maybe one day become scientists. Thank you!
