My 20 students need a tabletop science center, a science bingo library, a volcano kit, a solar system floor puzzle, an astro lab planetarium activity model, a class planetarium, and an Earth and Inner Planets CD-ROM.
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Science Exploration is important for low income students who need the motivation to learn more science. I teach a third grade GATE class in a very low income visual arts and sixth year low test score improvement school, and I am also participating in the Copernicus Project for UC Riverside which has everything to do with Earth science.
My students do not have any science materials due to the fact that we are a sixth year low test score improvement school. The teachers and students did not receive any start up materials for the entire school year.
When asked what they wanted to learn more of in third grade, 15 of my 18 students replied, "Science." My students will improve in all areas like reading and math as well as science if I can show them how fun science can be. I am requesting materials to support science education in Earth and the Inner Planets, a Planetarium and a Planetarium Activity Model, a Solar System Floor Puzzle, a Volcano Kit, a Science Bingo Library, and a Tabletop Science Center.
You make it possible for my students to motivate themselves, to see how much fun science can be, and how much they can learn from doing science in class.
