My Project

I am piloting a new course that combines Science with English for our school's struggling readers. Using science based novels in class will help give my students the reading skill practice they need while also helping them to utilize their scientific brain to better understand the world around them.

This school is very rural and I have tried to do a lot of research to find the best books for this group.

We will work on reading skills such as; summarizing, finding key details, cause and effect, sequencing, problem and solution, and using root words with affixes to determine meaning. These books will also lend themselves to some amazing in-class experiments!
