My students need a Document Camera in order to see my science demonstrations up close and personal.

My Students
While demonstrating various scientific processes through whole-class demonstrations it is often difficult for all students to view and see up close-especially the small, subtle details.
The students I present science to come from a suburban community in Southeastern Massachusetts which has faced several years of financial cutbacks.
Finding funding for replacing outdated technology has been difficult and as a school we've struggled with some very old and decrepit electronic equipment.
My Project
In learning, seeing is believing, and this is particularly so in areas of science. Examples of scientific concepts through actual, physical demonstrations are infinitely more engaging and interesting for students than static examples from the pages of a textbook. With a decent document camera it would allow all students to easily see demonstration examples up close and personal. Projecting images in large format illuminates details that could be missed with normal viewing. Additionally, the action put under the viewer can be captured electronically for further investigation in great detail. A very important useful tool for any classroom.
A document viewer for use with my projector in my science classroom would be a great addition as a tool for engaging students and sparking an interest in scientific questioning and discovery.
Seeing scientific phenomena first hand goes a very long way toward encouraging students to begin to ask questions and seek answers to how their world really works.
