I teach Kindergarten in a high-poverty area.

Most of my students receive free lunch and many are learning to speak English as well. They have many challenges to face, but they approach learning with vigor and enthusiasm and will, therefore, overcome any obstacle that even tries to stand in their way.

My Project

I am requesting a science tool center, prepared slides, a big screen microscope, and X-rays. These tools will provide countless opportunities for my students to have hands-on experiences in Science. They can use the microscopes and prepared slides to gain an understanding of things that are hard to see with the naked eye. I think it would deepen their appreciation for the world around them. The big screen microscope would enable us to experience these things as a class as well. The X-rays would help a great deal in teaching about the human body and how it fits together. Children can feel their bones and know they have them, but having close-up pictures to look at and work with would certainly give them a deeper level of knowledge and understanding of their own bodies.

Your help will ensure that my students do not ever miss out on Science.

They will have opportunities every day to more thoroughly explore their world and who knows, we may even inspire a doctor or two along the way!
